ALESSANDRO MALAGNINO

MIGUEL ÁNGEL LORENTE

My restlessness to discover the place of the saxophone in today's world and its repertoire, as well as its perspectives within the avant-garde currents, led me to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (Paris National Conservatory of Music and Dance) where I was admitted to the speciality diplôme formation supérieur , in the class of Claude Delangle. Four years later, I finished my Master's degree in Saxophone with the qualification of ‘Master of Music’. très bien, à l’unanimité du jury (very good, unanimously by the jury). It was a period in which I lived experiences that will be part of my life forever, both professionally and personally.

After completing my studies at the Getafe Professional Conservatory con Miguel Enrique de TenaI continued my higher education. I completed my Bachelor's degree, again with Honourable Mentionsin the saxophone speciality in the Real Conservatorio de Música de Madrid (RCSMM), with the teacher Manuel MijánHe was a pioneer of the so-called ‘classical’ saxophone in Spain, and a great promoter of interest in this instrument in our country.

After that, I accessed the Conservatorio Nacional de la Región de Lyonwhere I studied ‘Perfectioning’ with Jean-Denis Michatdeeply admire him as a teacher, and he continues to be my reference as a performer and teacher.

My fascination with the development of the saxophone repertoire and my search for new forms of musical expression during my time in Paris contributed to my relationship with the composers of the CNSMDP y del IRCAM (Institut Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/ Musique), which soon led to collaborations with a number of different ensembles of contemporary music, thus entering fully into the musical life of the city. I am currently a soloist with the Ensemble Multilatérale de París, directed by Yann Robin.

To approve in the Banda Sinfónica Municipal de Madrid was for me a dream come true. Since I was a child, I used to go with my parents to listen to this centenary group in the Retiro Park on Sundays in summer, and we used to fantasise about the idea of being able to play one morning as part of it. In 2008 the dream came true, a dream that lasted until 2015, when I started teaching in the saxophone classroom at Musikene.

At present, I combine my collaborations with various symphony orchestras with my work as a performer and teacher of the saxophone speciality in the Centro Superior de Música del País Vasco, Musikene(San Sebastian) since 2015, and I can proudly say that I am passionate about teaching, and an extremely happy person to dedicate myself to this profession, trying to give back to my students every day everything that music has given me.
