The PRELIMINARY PHASE is preceded by a selection by video which aims to establish a classification that will determine the participation or not of the candidates to the SEMI-FINAL PHASE (in person).
The registration fee for the PRELIMINARY PHASE for the selection of videos is 30 euros to be paid at the time of the registration. This fee is not refundable. The application for registration is to be made via the form on the official website of the contest.
In case of selection of the candidate for the SEMIFINALS and FINAL of the Contest, the registration fee is an additional 140 euros. This fee is not refundable. The application for registration is to be made via the registration form on the official website of the contest.
The submission of the registration form implies the unconditional acceptance of these bases.
1.-PRELIMINARY PHASE: SEND THE VIDEO FOR YOUR SELECTION
The candidate should send the following videos with the following works:
1.- Cadenza of the work Prelude, Cadenza et Finale by Alfred Desenclos Ed. Leduc, saxophone only.
2.- Fantasia 3 for Flute – G. P. Telemann 4’. (Tone and instrumentation free, with repetitions)
This video file must be sent by WeTransfer to grancanariasaxfestival@gmail.com before may 30, 2023 performing the registration on the official website of the Festival.
2.- TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS OF THE VIDEO
1.- Nombre de video archivo: NOMBRE_APELLIDOS_CADENZA_DESENCLOS

Resolution: 640 x 480 pixels minimum.
Format: only mp4.
The video file must not exceed 2Gb In the video, the candidate must be fully visible at all times on the screen and the camera angle should be fixed.
The candidate must be filmed in a single shot. We will not accept a video montage. All videos are seen as confidential by the organizing team of the competition to make sure that you have not used any technical hack.
It is the responsibility of the organizing team of the competition to decide if a video is inadmissible due to a technical quality is insufficient or non-compliance with rules of video capture as defined above.
In this case, the team organizer of the competition reserves the right to ask the candidate to provide a new video. Until the end of the contest, the candidate is strictly prohibited to disseminate these videos on any medium, including social networks, under penalty of exclusion. The video is the property of the organizing Committee of the Gran Canaria International Saxophone Competition until the end of the contest.
3.- RESOLUTION OF CONTESTANTS TO THE SEMIFINAL STAGE
Once viewing the videos by the organizing committee of the competition, will be published by the website of the Festival contestants admitted to the SEMIFINAL STAGE. The publication date will be the day June 6, 2023.
4.- PRELIMINARY PHASE(Face-to-FACE)
Tuesday, July 18, will be held the SEMIFINALS in Auditorio de Teror from 9:30h. The order of participation of the contestants will be published in the official website of the Festival and for this there will be a draw prior undertaken by the organizing committee of the Contest.
Applicants will be presented to the place of the contest for 25 minutes before their performance. The absence of the applicant at the time assigned to the action is deemed to be a withdrawal from the contest.
In this phase, each applicant will perform two works. The maximum duration of the test for each applicant will be of 20 minutes, at which time the jury will conclude the test and will move to the next applicant. A maximum of 5 participants will advance to the FINAL PHASE.

Thursday, July 20, will be held the FINAL PHASE in Auditorio de Teror from 20:30h. The order of participation of the contestants will be published on the Festival website and in the School of Music of Teror and to do this there will be a draw prior undertaken by the organizing committee of the Contest.

Work required: Rhapsody for Alto Saxophone. André Waignein (saxophone and piano)
Second free work: Work only original for any member of the family of the saxophone chosen by the contestant. The work has to be published and will not be accepted transcripts unless it is made by the composer and has been published. You have to submit copies to the members of the jury. It is recommended that the work lasts less than 10 minutes. The work can not last more than 10 minutes.
6.- THE JURY
The Competition jury is composed by professors of the GRAN CANARIA SAX ACADEMY.
The jury, before the start of his performance, examine the circumstances of abstention by incompatibility, and in the event that there is a candidate who is a student currently one of the members of the jury, this member of the jury will not rate.
The jury's deliberation will take place after each PHASE. The Jury's decisions are final and will be announced at the end of each phase. Aspiring eliminated in each phase will have the opportunity to share their findings with the members of the jury. The jury reserves the right not to grant any/any prize.
7.- ACCOMPANIMENTPIANO
It is recommended to applicants who bring their piano accompanist for the SEMIFINAL STAGE. If this is not possible, the organization of the contest will provide a pianist to candidates who request it. At a price of 30€ (30 minutes per essay). The essay application of the accompanying pianist, will be able to make those participants who passed the PRELIMINARY STAGE and will be prompted through the registration form.
Los ensayos se organizarán debidamente al finalizar la FASE PRELIMINAR y se programarán para el lunes 17 de Julio de 2023 a partir de las 9:30h. Los ensayos se realizarán en el Auditorio de Teror.
8.- PRICES
The registration fee for the PRELIMINARY PHASE for the selection of videos is 30 euros.
Registration SEMIFINALS AND FINAL PHASE of the Contest: 140 €.
The payment of the registration will have to be done through the official website of the Festival. In case of force majeure (natural disaster, pandemic, etc) that forces the Team to the Contest organizer to cancel the Phases that take place in Gran Canaria, we will refund the registration fee for the Phases SEMI-FINAL AND FINAL (face-to-face) (140 euros) to the candidate. In all cases, the registration fee for the PRELIMINARY PHASE and the selection for video (30 euros), the organization is left with the registration fee.
9.- TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION
The travel and accommodation expenses of the applicant will be paid, as well as his piano accompanist. The organization will provide a list of hotels.
10.- RIGHTS OF PUBLICITY AND PROPERTYINTELLECTUAL
By submitting the registration form, the applicant authorizes the organization to use their name, biographical details and image in relation to the contest. The GRAN CANARIA SAX FESTIVAL, as the contest organizer, is the exclusive owner of all intellectual property that is and is related to the contest. This includes but is not limited to all rights of any recording, photograph, video and/or transmission/emission (live, deferred, or future), in all the formats current and/or future, on a national and international level, of all the stages and performances. Applicants will not be entitled to any compensation. The proceedings of the contest will be broadcast live on the page of Facebook of the Festival.
11.- RESPONSIBILITY
The organization shall not be responsible for any accident that may occur to the applicant for their participation in the contest, or loss or damage to your tool or personal effects it Is recommended to have medical and travel insurance
12.- OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
The decisions of the organization to all matters not included in these rules shall be final. In the case of an appeal, the submissions must be written in Spanish or English.
